I really enjoy going to thrift stores. I find all kinds of cool stuff at great prices. One of my favorite things to look for at thrift stores is furniture pieces that just need a little TLC to bring them back to their former glory.
This piece was ok but was just blah. I saw so much potential and just loved the shape. I thought it would be fun to paint it and use it at my son’s Rehearsal dinner. I forgot to take a picture before I started painting, but here it is just after I sanded it and began the first coat of paint. Not very nice yet…
I also bought a desk at a thrift store and painted it the same day as the other piece:
I gave each piece three coats of paint. I added pink antique glass drawer pulls to both. The glass sliding doors on the china cabinet are original. The desk was only $3.98 at the thrift store! I really like how they turned out and now I’m trying to decide which room of the house I should put it in.
What do you think?
They both looked great at the wedding rehearsal dinner; they added a lot and were fun to decorate!
Can’t wait to visit the thrift store again! 🙂

Very nice, Daisy. 🙂
Wow that looks amazing, nice job! 🙂
You’ve always been so creative. I love it!! I think you should consider opening a bed and breakfast place someday.
That sounds like fun! If you and your family would come and stay… we’ll have a lovely time! 🙂
I like what you made,amazing!
Beautiful transformations!
They don’t even look like the same pieces, beautiful!
Thanks! It was a bit of hard work, but well worth it!
Wow Daisy! Love the before and after! Think I’m gonna have to spend some time in the thrift stores!
Wow, they look great
I love redoing furniture! These are really nice.
Very nice…I love taking discarded ‘treasures’ and restoring them! ~ Ellan
Yes, it’s a lot of fun!
These look so good! I need to check out some thrift stores for fun things to restore 🙂
I love finding pieces of furniture and sprucing them up too. I snatched us a free cupboard that was along side the road and worked some magic with it. I posted it on my blog – check it out if you get a minute. I think you did a great job – it feels good to know you can bring a drab old piece of furniture back to life – doesn’t it?
Wow looks great!
Great transformation and thanks for visiting my blog 🙂
Wow! It’s amazing what a simple coat (well 3 coats) of paint and some glass knobs can do. I’ve always loved glass knobs of all sorts and those pink ones are just right! My friend just did the same thing with a garage sale china cabinet. It’s going to hold her scrapbook supplies.
So very nice! I love taking something old and making it new again. I just wish I had a bigger house to put it all in……
