Last week I was tired and felt a little like Heidi…
(she missed the mountains and the great outdoors!)
So…
My husband & I drove to the nearest beach
and took a walk…
It might seem like it’s night time in this photo,
but actually, it’s early morning on the beach.
The skies were cloudy,
so even though the sun had technically risen,
it wasn’t as sunny as a “normal” sunrise.
All I had was my cell phone,
but I wanted to take some pictures.
The little birds were just waking up, it seemed.
If you click on this photo above, and zoom in,
you can see a line of birds flying just above the water.
The sound of the waves, the water between our toes,
the breeze…
Ahhh.
This is what I needed.
Ever so slowly, it began to get a little brighter…
“You rule the swelling of the sea.” Psalms 89:9
We walked for a mile and a half.
In some places, close to hotels,
the workers had begun to set up
umbrellas & chairs for rentals.
In a few hours, this place would be
crowded with lots & lots of people.
But for now, it was just a few, here & there,
walking, some jogging, some riding their bicycles.
By the time we had turned around and returned to where we had started,
it was much brighter.
And so it was for me.
Take time to go outside and enjoy it.
Have a terrific weekend,
Daisy

I realized once again today,
that very often God uses what I call “Pictorial Lessons”
to remind me of something,
to teach me something,
to help me see things clearer or in a new perspective… etc…
I can remember times when I sat by the shore of the ocean
by myself, watching the sun rise (or set)…
Some of those times I poured out my heart to God,
and later, when I got up to leave, I felt I had been in His presence.
He had “heard my cry” as the Bible states, and I felt
Comforted.
Strengthened.
Even filled with peace
and joy.
The ocean… the sun rising or setting on the horizon,
the little sand birds running away from the waves
only to turn around and run towards it again….
So much like children running around, playing and laughing.
The rising & setting of the sun reminding me of the faithfulness
and steadfastness of God.
Many of us have experienced times when we were grieved or heart-broken…
It’s tempting to blame God.
But that is neither true, nor what will bring us healing or
help us to overcome and continue on…
The mountains that remind me that He is my strength..
“I love You, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalms 18:1-2
Hiking in the mountains and suddenly coming upon a small waterfall, a river, a lake…
It is a reminder (another “Pictorial Lesson”) for me:
“For I satisfy the weary ones and refresh everyone who languishes.” Jeremiah 31:25
Oh, Lord, sometimes I’m weary and I need your strength.
Refresh my heart;
Strengthen me.
Looking at the mountain ridges, and seeing the beautiful colors…
I’m reminded that God is the magnificent Creator
and we are His most prized creation…
“I have loved you with an everlasting love” Jeremiah 31:3
Sometimes I don’t feel so loved and appreciated, Lord;
Thank you for reminding me that You have always loved me
and
you
always
will.
****************************
He has created beautiful things for us to enjoy
and to bring us joy…
“Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.” Psalm 96:6
Here are a few examples:
I find rest in You, Oh Lord.
Children . . . they always make me smile
and remind me of Your tenderness towards me.
Flowers – what a wonderful array of colors and smells –
Oh, Lord, I marvel at Your amazing attention to detail.
Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face continually.
Remember His wonders which He has done,
His marvels and the judgments uttered by His mouth,
Psalm 105:4-5
I pray this was of encouragement to you
as it was to me.

Most men enjoy watching/reading News, right?
Well, my husband is no exception.
This past week as he was reading one of the online News sites,
he thought it was funny that it actually said
there was snow in 49 States!
–all, except Florida!!
He sent that news clip to our kids
(who were “stranded” at home in different parts of the country
due to the winter storms)…
He let them know they could always come back home.
Bless his heart.
It’s usually hot in Florida,
but this week it’s been nice & cool.
So, here we are, enjoying the Florida weather for a change.
Don’t hate us.
Let heaven and earth praise Him,
The seas and everything that moves in them.
Psalm 69:34
Happy Sunday, everyone!
Have a blessed week!

One of the blessings of our job/ministry is that we get/have to travel.
Sometimes we are so tired, we just want to go back home,
but other times we want to stay for a few more days…
The weather was interesting with a bit of everything… sun, clouds, storm, serene.
I took this photo (above) from a balcony, looking to my left…
This one (above) was a second later, looking to my right. Neither photo was edited in any way. They are straight from my phone.
We had lunch at a great place called Aunt Catfish. The food was so good!
They have what they call their Fixin’s Bar, which is a hot bar included with the meal…
cornbread, slaw, baked beans, stewed apples,
and my favorite: cheese grits!
YUM
I ordered the catfish plate. It was delicious.
It came with their sweet potato fries and an amazing sauce which had pineapple in it. That alone was worth going there.
The catfish was great…
But my FAVORiTE part, by far was their cinnamon roll!
Wow. It just melts in your mouth!
I wish this was a health food…
I’d buy a dozen!
I’m not sure when we’ll be back, but it was wonderful to be there…
I can still hear the sound of the waves.
Happy travels everyone 🙂
Love to you all, Daisy

In Florida, “summer” is so hot, that we prefer going to the beach when the heat is not quite so intense… usually before June and after August. (At least I do; maybe I should just speak for myself!).
Earlier this year in April, while it was still nice outdoors, we went on a day trip to Venice Beach.
Somehow, the ocean has a therapeutic effect on me. (God’s creation always does!)
I can sit there for hours, just staring at it. I guess you could say (like John Denver’s song) it “fills up my senses.”
The sound of the waves seems to relieve any stress I feel. The wind, the sand, the salty smell, and one of my favorites…the sand pipers chasing the waves only to turn around and run before they get their feet wet. Sigh.
My daughter and I sat in the shade, talking, laughing, just enjoying one another’s company. How good it felt to be together and just relax. We swam for a bit, walked for a while, then came and enjoyed the shade again.
My husband and my son-in-law spent hours looking for shark teeth.
Men.
They always love a challenge.
They did find quite a bit. I was impressed. They were excited.
Here’s one of the shark teeth they found. They were very proud. As well they should be.
We left promising each other that we’d come back real soon.
I can’t wait.
Happy Summer!
