Last week I was tired and felt a little like Heidi…
(she missed the mountains and the great outdoors!)
So…
My husband & I drove to the nearest beach
and took a walk…
It might seem like it’s night time in this photo,
but actually, it’s early morning on the beach.
The skies were cloudy,
so even though the sun had technically risen,
it wasn’t as sunny as a “normal” sunrise.
All I had was my cell phone,
but I wanted to take some pictures.
The little birds were just waking up, it seemed.
If you click on this photo above, and zoom in,
you can see a line of birds flying just above the water.
The sound of the waves, the water between our toes,
the breeze…
Ahhh.
This is what I needed.
Ever so slowly, it began to get a little brighter…
“You rule the swelling of the sea.” Psalms 89:9
We walked for a mile and a half.
In some places, close to hotels,
the workers had begun to set up
umbrellas & chairs for rentals.
In a few hours, this place would be
crowded with lots & lots of people.
But for now, it was just a few, here & there,
walking, some jogging, some riding their bicycles.
By the time we had turned around and returned to where we had started,
it was much brighter.
And so it was for me.
Take time to go outside and enjoy it.
Have a terrific weekend,
Daisy
Beautiful pictures. I love the landscape of southwest Ohio, but we have a lot of riverbanks and not a true beach.
Yes, I love fishing on a lake, going slowly on a canoe, …but the ocean… there’s just something about it. I get to visit Ohio again next month but we probably won’t have time to do any sight-seeing. The last time we went, we were able to drive through the countryside and see some beautiful places! I think it was Northern Ohio, though.
These are simply gorgeous pictures! You could frame them and they would be art! Thank you for sharing them!
Thank you for such a kind comment! 🙂
Awe! Simple, grateful awe! Last night we were involved in a fundraiser for placing bronze markers on benches in memory of Reed and the other children who died that day. It was an outdoor movie next to a lake. Although it was not my beloved Gulf of Mexico, the serenity of that water calmed my wistful mer-sense. It was a blessed evening!
So glad you were blessed at the fundraiser. I’m sure you & your family are a testimony to the other parents & families.
The Gulf beaches on the west coast of Florida are still my favorite. I especially like Sanibel & Captiva Islands… so beautiful! They used to be very quiet beaches, but last time I visited there (about 3 yrs ago), it was very crowded and noisy …I didn’t enjoy it as much, although the water was just as clear and beautiful as always!
Thank you, Daisy. We moved to Arizona from New Jersey in 1998. I love it here, but I do miss the ocean. Your photos are a good “fix.”
Yes, I just recently moved “close” to the ocean (I used to live about 20 hrs away at one time!), and I absolutely love it! I haven’t been able to go as often as I’d like, but just knowing it’s there feels wonderful! 🙂
Gorgeous post, Daisy!
Thanks, Laura! So good to have you “visit”. 🙂
I can’t believe this beautiful pictures came from your cell phone Daisy! Such brilliant reflections. They are so tranquil and serene– makes me feel calmer just to scroll down and see them all. Beautiful Daisy.
— and I noticed in a comment that you’re off to Ohio before too long! Hope it’s a great time with your family– hope you post some pics!
Beautiful post. xo
Thank you, Rhonda! When I saw the birds flying just above the water, I kind of wished I had my “real” camera with me…but then I’d have to be carrying it and I’d be more focused on taking pictures than just walking and relaxing. Still trying to go to Ohio, but not sure when/if it’ll happen. I’ll definitely be taking lots of pictures there if we do go! 🙂
Beautiful pictures! Thank you so much for sharing. You have brightened up my day too!
So glad you stopped by! Thanks! 🙂
Missing you Miss Daisy. xo
Aw! Thanks, Rhonda! I just got back from two weeks of travel to see family and then a training for work…was home one day and then had to pack and leave again! I’m tired! Haha
Whoa! Are you home now or still out and about? Did you make it to Ohio? Does sound like a good, crazy time. Hugs from here…
Daisy, this is a gorgeous set of pictures. My fave times at the beach are at sunrise and sunset. Pure loveliness.
