As you probably know by now, my husband & I love to take drives through the country now that we live closer to it…
You probably also know that I love historic homes and even some that may not be classified as “historic” but more like broken-down, neglected, abandoned… etc…
As we drive by and I try to get a good shot of the house in a moving car…
I wonder what it looked like when it was newly constructed?
Who lived here? Where are they now? Why has it fallen to disrepair?
Can I buy it? What could I do to make it look nice again?
Maybe some new windows?
Some of the houses don’t look so bad… some actually look like they are being lived in (by people),
I saved the best for last!
This one if by far my favorite.
But, alas, someone beat me to it… they bought this pretty house and they are working hard at bringing it back to its former glory. I almost wish I could just walk up to them and say, “Need any help?” But I live too far to be of much use. I’m rooting for them, though.
They have already accomplished quite a bit and it won’t be long before this house looks amazing, like it probably looked when it was new. Then it will be ready to welcome a new family and impress those driving by (such as myself) with its beauty!
Happy Country Driving,
Daisy
I love the middle one — the little bungalow. It needs wooden rockers on the front porch and flowers in front…(With your beautiful quilts hanging over the back of the rockers…)
Haha! I like the way you think! 🙂
Remodeling the first house would make it so beautiful. Senior Care, Childcare, Blessing some off the streets (shelter), and so much more it could be good for. Be BLESSED, Mtetar
I see I’m not the only one who thinks this way 🙂
So much great things can be done with houses and be a Blessing to someone, or others. Thanks for sharing. Mtetar
I am so with you, Daisy, about old houses… they are so intriguing! Lovely post – makes me want to check out our older neighborhoods again.
Blessings ~ Wendy
Sounds like fun! Wish I could go with you! 🙂
I LOVE pretty houses in the country, too! The old, falling apart ones always seem a bit sad, and lonely. And I want to buy and fix up every one!
I know how you feel! 🙂
I also like to look at old houses and let my imagination run wild regarding their history. I’m particularly drawn to the building in the first picture. Was is something in addition to being a home? . . . maybe a hotel or restaurant?
Yes, it does have that look like a stop on a old stage coach schedule!
I have the same love of pretty country houses, esp the older well worn ones that have been abandoned. I try to picture the first family who lived in them, imagining the excitement of them.
One was recently torn down not far from me, I used to walk by it and imagine who planted the lovely large Lilac bush in the front, it was so pretty. Who used the root cellar off to the side and who worked and tended that long neglected garden patch. The new owners have completely bulldozed it now to make room for one of today’s large modern houses.
Aww, it’s kind of sad when they’re torn down… like a piece of history was just done away with. It’s fun to watch when an older house is repaired and restored.
Wow! These are cool houses! I love looking at old homes!
Old houses have such character. I love the last one too!
I used to do that, too. Not take pictures, but be sad because they’re falling down and want to fix them myself. So much history just disappearing around us. Well, My Cowboy and I just bought one, and it certainly IS a project, but I LOVE it!
