I went to a cute little County Fair this past weekend.
My favorite part is always the animals…
I have to tell you, though, I was very disappointed to learn that the chickens and roosters were not scheduled to arrive for another 3 days! That is always my favorite section!
Oh well, maybe next time…Sigh…
They also had an old building filled with different kinds of historical displays…
I was so excited when I saw some quilters demonstrating the art of hand quilting. It was fun talking to them.
There was also different sewing machines from the early 1900s
Outside, there was a large display of different kinds of machinery and other “vehicles”
It was a fun time, just walking around, enjoying the different areas. It was a small fair but there was something for everyone… Rides, food, contests,…
There were several groups performing at various stations and I enjoyed listening to them.
I’ll leave you with a picture of these two sweeties…
Happy Fall/Autumn,
Daisy
How wonderful, all the photo’s but I especially love the ladies making the quilt. It reminds me of Kinder gentler times.
Yes, you’re right about the times… It was so refreshing to talk with them – before I realized it, I had spent almost a half hour just standing there asking them questions and listening to their answers. They were gracious enough to let me take their picture, and they even invited me to their Quilting Group. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make it, but it would sure be fun to see them again and learn how to quilt from pros.
What a great fair! I didn’t realize county fairs were held this late in the year. In southwest Ohio, our fairs were over in September. I see several things at this fair that I’d be interested in.
It was a beautiful day, which was great since the weekend prior to that, the temperature was 40* and very windy. I’ll be in Ohio soon and was just looking at the weather report in the area we’ll be in – snow is expected! π
Oh how I love a good fair! These pictures are from a girl after my own heart. I would have enjoyed everything you saw. Of course as a 4-H poultry momma, I would have wanted to see the birds too! You could always make a road trip to MN next August, and we could give you more than your fair share of the poultry barn! π
That sounds like fun!! π
Unless it’s too far away, I think you should try the quilting group. Sounds like fun! And right up your alley!
Haha, yes, I may just follow your advice!
I love going to the fair! How fun to see the antiques…the way things were! I wish I could’ve been with you Daisy! What an enjoyable way to spend the day!
Yes, Laura, going to the fair is always more fun with a friend!
There’s nothing like a country fair! What fun to see such variety all gathered together. And, as a hand quilter, I love that women were demonstrating how to do it.
I must admit, this county fair was much, much smaller than the county fair I grew up going to, since “mine” was in the city and there were thousands of vendors and exhibits… But I think I prefer the slower pace of this country county fair and the friendliness of the people. I don’t miss the crowded and loud setting at all! I’ve often thought that I’m a country girl that was born in the city.
A county fair in the city? Now, that’s a new one for me! I grew up in the country so I guess those are the fairs I think of. But, now that you mention it, I know our state fair is humongous. i like the little dinky homey fairs!
Oh Daisy . . .I so look forward to your posts! Your photos made me feel like I was there! And I am sure I recognized that old Singer sewing machine . . .my grandma had one! Thank you, thank you for sharing!
I’m so happy that you enjoy the posts and I thank you for your always kind comments!
It was fun being able to virtually visit the fair via your photos. I thought that the rabbit with the floppy ears was my favorite animal–but then I scrolled down and saw the goats. And, now I can’t decide which I like better.
That rabbit was my favorite, too.
Hi Daisy!– Those sewing machines reminded me of my Grandma’s. and loved the cute rabbits!! fun post!
Just loved thise sweet faces on the rabbits. I wanted to pick them up, they looked so lonely and afraid of so many people staring at them.
Daisy, I love the old sewing machines and the bunnies the best. My daughter and I went to a petting zoo this summer, and I thought the pigs were adorable.
