It was so good to visit my Dad recently.
I don’t get to see him as often as I’d like.
Visits to see Dad usually include a walk in the backyard.
It was the end of the mango season for his trees…
He counted seven on this tree…
They would be the last ones of the summer…
I did get to eat one or two that he’d pick earlier. They were delicious!!
They smell so good!
I wasn’t the only one enjoying these delicacies…
There he is in his workshop, enjoying the fruits of his labor,
taking a break from work. That’s his lovely wife.
They’ve been married for over 15 years (my Mom passed away many years ago).
I did get to bring one or two of these home with me. 🙂
Later that night he decided to cook some ribs on the grill.
I made a rub for them, and he put them on the bbq.
He kept a close eye on them until they were done.
We had a great time that night.
My brother & his wife & kids came over and we laughed a lot
as we always do when we get together.
It was a short visit but oh, so sweet.
Enjoy your summer. 🙂
Daisy
So wonderful that you got to visit your dad and step-mother. He looks great and I would love to have some of those beautiful mangoes.
Those mangos were so sweet! They are really delicious! I’d love to give you some 🙂 Maybe next time I go to Ohio. I am so blessed to still have my Dad and that he’s in good health. He is an amazing person and every time I visit him it’s a special time.
Honey, this is so sweet. It made me cry! Thank you for sharing this with me! I love you!
Thank you for your sweet words 🙂 I love you!!
Oh Daisy – what a wonderful visit! I am so thankful you had this precious time together. I will admit I wanted to rub my fingers through all the treasures in his workshop. Blessings on you – Kandy
Haha, yes, every time I go to his workshop I end up bringing something home with me! He’s an upholsterer so he’s got tons of fabric and all sorts of things that anyone who’s creative would love to use in different projects. He loves to give me left-over fabric and usually fills a bag for me. He calls it “free shopping”. It’s actually been a blessing because I’ve used those fabrics in every room of the house in one way or another!– pillows, comforters, curtains, tote bags, Bible covers….and so on. 🙂
Mangoes and left-over fabric are definitely treasures! I know you all enjoyed the time together.
Yes! It’s fun looking through the fabrics. It’s always a special time when I get to spend time with him.
What a special time. Your Dad looks so kind and friendly. I loved this post, my own Dad past away last year so it always lovely to see others having special times with their family 🙂 x
Thank you 🙂 he really is exactly as you described him…so kind and friendly.
Oh that’s so wonderful to have your own mango tree and to be able to enjoy them right off the tree! Your dad does look so nice.
Thanks for the comment today on my site. It’s always fun to hear from someone new.
Hi! and thanks for stopping by. 🙂 My husband & I are doing some research to see if mangos grow here, where I live, but my Dad has two trees and one of them in particular grows the sweetest mangos!
Such a sweet, lovely post! Those times with our parents need to be cherished–and you make it clear you do!
It’s funny how you appreciate your parents more & more the older you get and as you go through the different stages of life… I understand them better now than I ever did before, and I admire them more, too. I know it sounds like a cliche but it’s been so true for me.
So glad you had a sweet visit with your dad and step mom and made special memories. How nice that he has that wonderful mango tree!
Oooh, your Dad has a mean green sewing machine like mine, only much more industrial looking. Lovely post 🙂
What a dear post Daisy. Don’t you love just stay at home times when the family is all together? And I was a little jealous of the mango tree! They looked beautifully ripe! — We have our kids are in they weekend for a family wedding lat night– lots of noisy fun.
