I love making things for my grand kids! The tiny pieces and fabrics are so much fun to work with!

My daughter gave me this magazine about two years ago. I’ve looked through it countless times, dreaming planning which projects I was going to make, with what fabric, and for whom.
You see the project pictured on the top right? That’s the one I had picked out for one of my grand kids birthday. I just thought it looked so cute!
If you’d like to get the pattern, you can find it by clicking here. I love the website for this magazine! It has so many ideas, patterns, and helpful tips! The designer of this project is Jo Carter, and her website is http://www.twoowls.typepad.co.uk.
.
The instructions are easy to understand and follow. I must confess that as I pieced the bed, I wondered how this “rectangle” would become a bed, but as I went along, following the pattern, it all made sense and worked perfectly.
.
I love patchwork quilts, don’t you?
.
For the mice, I decided to use print instead of solid fabric.
.
It was fun sewing on the tails and working on their faces. As you can tell, I decided to use a fine-tip permanent marker (instead of embroidery) on the faces. I was short on time… I had to get this in the mail in time for a birthday surprise!
.
If you’ve got any projects or magazine clippings filed under “someday”. . . Choose one and get started!
It’ll be fun!
Happy sewing and a great weekend to you!
Daisy
These mice are so darling and your unique touches have made them extra-special. I could manage the bed, but I’ve never been good at stuffed animals. This is such a great surprise.
I was a little scared of the mice, too, but it was surprisingly easy! I can’t wait to do another set for my other grand kids! :).
Way Cute! What a fun gift!
My granddaughter loves it! The mice look so cute in her tiny hands!
You are so talented, I love it. The mice are just adorable and the bag is so well done. You should have an Etsy shop.
Haha! I actually laughed when you suggested an Etsy shop because my daughter keeps telling me the same thing. Maybe I’ll try it some day . . . 🙂
You should!!👍
Sooo cute and thanks for the link to the magazine.
Thanks. You’ll find a lot more patterns and cute ideas on their website.
Daisy – these are absolutely adorable!! Thank you for the link to the magazine and pattern! Kandy
Thanks, Kandy! It’s good to hear from you!
You re remarkable Daisy!! so so sweet– I’m sure she’ll love them!! I wonder how you did the ears- they stand up so cute and perky. And great tip about using the permanent marker for the face– before I read that I wondered how you could ever stitch such fine detail. Such a dear gift. going to follow the magazine link… Love it Daisy!! xox
They were easier to make than you might think! The ears have interfacing so that’s why they stay nice and straight on their little heads 😊 I can’t wait to make another set!
so so cute!! I’m looking up your magazine. Such cute ideas!! Happy sewing!! (I’m piecing a baby quilt today). hugs hugs!
Can’t wait to see the finished baby quilt! I’m sure it’ll be beautiful!
Hi Daisy– I’m having baby quilt issues. I wanted to try a quilt with appliques and put the top together and Did Not Like It!! So I went to Joanne’s today got a little fabric to start over with a new idea. Hoping this goes better!!! ugh. But thanks for asking– i’ll let you know… hugs hugs friend!!
