This entry is going to be very different from all the previous ones…
I usually have a photo, and have humorous things to say about it,
or I have some project I’ve been working on that I want to tell you about.
Not today…

The last few months have been a bit trying.

I’m not going to sugar-coat it or make it sound happy.

The main reason I started this blog
was because I wanted a place where I could have an outlet
for my creative projects, including photography, sewing, etc.

But also, I wanted to make new friends,
be a blessing to others,
and be able to write about whatever was on my heart.

Well, the last couple of weeks, I have had no desire to even open this page.
Or sew, or write, or do anything creative…
My health hasn’t been great, (severe migraines)
along with other challenging situations.

Dealing with a variety of things at once is a lot of what life is like
for most of us.  It isn’t easy, or pleasant, and there are times we may feel
overwhelmed and even too weary to deal with one more thing.

Where does strength come from in times like these?

Looking back,
throughout most of my life, (from the age of 13),
I can honestly say that there has been a  constant
that has carried me through very difficult times,
even those of great grief…

I’d sit with the Bible open on my lap,
the tears streaming down my face.
I’d pour my heart out to God
and knew and felt that He heard me
that He was with me.
I was not alone.
His strength and His comfort got me through so many
very difficult times.

And so it is still true today.
Whether severe physical pain,
in the ER, not knowing what’s going to happen the next minute…
or just simple challenges that come up everyday,
nothing too earth-shattering but still feeling the need
for wisdom and guidance,
for everyday strength and joy.

I was reminded this past weekend of a verse you’ve probably heard before…
“My grace is sufficient for you,
for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Cor. 12:9)

As I was writing here now, a song came on and I’d like to share it with you:
by Steven Curtis Chapman,  His Strength is Perfect (click to listen).

I’m so thankful that some of you actually emailed me or commented
to tell me you missed me and wondering how I was doing.
That meant so much to me.
Thank you so very much!
I value your friendship more than you know.

May God bless you this week in a wonderful way!
Love to you all,
Daisy

Thatia

While we were in Georgia, recently, we got to see friends that
we don’t see too often.  They have a beautiful place and we made
a new friend. . .

DSC_0173

This is Thatia (pronounced Thay-sha)

DSC_0169

She is a beautiful german shepherd . . .

DSC_0167

. . . with a nice thick coat.

She is a big girl!

Our friends said she weighs 150 lbs!

DSC_0171

Although she looked fierce when we first drove in
and I wouldn’t want to walk in alone while she’s
keeping watch…

DSC_0172

She was very friendly and playful
(as long as our friends were close by).

She is a beauty and I enjoyed our time with her.
What fun to try to get a still photo of her!

Thought you might want to “meet” her. 🙂

Moving…

We are in the process of moving…
packing, cleaning, figuring out what goes and what will be donated or discarded…

I’ve so enjoyed living here…

DSC_0073

No, that’s not our dock, it’s a neighbor’s down the street.
We don’t live on the lake,
but we live close enough that when we step outside our front door, we can see it.

We’ve had wonderful times here…

(that’s my daughter and son-in-law)

…and we will have wonderful times in our new surroundings!

Friend in the Garden

This is a little plant stand I have outside…

Today, I noticed there was someone looking at me…

Can you see him?

DSC_0165

I almost missed him, but as I walked by, I stopped abruptly
(they’ve jumped on me before, you know!)

DSC_0166

And sure enough, there he was,
very comfortably enjoying his home…

DSC_0167

I don’t particularly like frogs,
but I didn’t have the heart to “evict” this one
out of his little home…
…I think maybe I’ll give it a day or two for him to leave on his own…

DSC_0170

Maybe when I water the plants,
it’ll be too much for him
and he’ll find another home.

DSC_0169

He does look comfortable, doesn’t he?!

I now walk   s-l-o-w-l-y   by,
so he won’t get the idea to spring up on me…
…just to say hello, maybe?
No, probably more like, “I’m trying to scare you so you’ll stay away
and leave me alone!”

I think it’ll work.

Well, it’s nice to find a friend…
even if it’s only a little froggie. 🙂

Happy gardening,

Daisy

Notebook Cover

I am in the midst of moving, so I have been away from the blogging world and I have missed it!

I won’t be finished with the moving process (packing, cleaning, unpacking, cleaning) until 2 weeks from now.

I thought I’d share a notebook cover I made not long ago.  It went very quickly and it was fun.
For more examples of notebook or journal covers, see HERE.

DSC_0168

I wanted something practical but also pretty…

DSC_0171

It’s great to have it with me whether I need to take notes or  to refer to notes.

Here’s what the front outside looks like.  I used three different fabrics, …really just pieces that I had left over from other projects.  I liked how they looked together.

DSC_0175

As you can see, I added some lace, a button, and an elastic closure.
Some of the lace I used was left-over from my daughter’s wedding dress. … Sigh….
It was a tiny piece but I wanted something special like that to give it some sentimental value.

This is the inside without the notebook in it.  I put in a red ribbon so I could find my place quickly.
I just hate when I can’t find my place, don’t you?

DSC_0172

I added a small long pocket on the inside front for a pen and a highlighter,
and in the back I added a cute, small pocket for little notebooks, bookmarks,
or some chocolate or gum.  That’s always a nice surprise.  🙂

Here’s the outside open so you can see the whole thing.

DSC_0174

It’s nice to have something personal, …it makes me want to write in it.
Sometimes I sit and write in the mornings, just jotting down my thoughts.

DSC_0169

It goes perfectly with a nice, hot cup of tea.

Happy Sewing!  ..Happy Writing!

Weeds?

Weeds?

Just before my husband mowed the grass, I gathered some of the “weeds” that had grown…

DSC_0110

I made a little “bouquet”

(I hope they’re not poisonous!) 🙂

DSC_0111

and placed them in a glass.

DSC_0112

The colors look so pretty!

They brightened up the place.

Happy Thursday!

More from Amy Carmichael

Disappointed?

Art thou disappointed?  Come to Me;
I will never be a grief to thee.

Hurt by hand thou trusted?  Come to Me;
Leaves of healing I will lay on thee.

Art thou broken?  Come, My child, to Me;
I, thy Comforter, will comfort thee.

Even friends can sometimes changeful be;
I will always be the same to thee.

Your lovingkindness, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Psalm 36:5

Have a blessed Sunday!

Glad

DSC_0093

But let all who take refuge in You be glad,
Let them ever sing for joy;
And may You shelter them,
That those who love Your name may exult in You.
