Not long ago, I posted about the quilt I was making for one of my granddaughters,
(To read about it, click here and here)
For the backing, I used a pretty pink floral which was very soft.
I made a matching little pillow to go with it…
I added a small lace on the pillow, just to add some softness and a little special touch.
And I hand-quilted both. It was fun, and as I stitched, I prayed for my granddaughter.
She’s a cutie and a joy!!
We weren’t able to be with her on her birthday, but we had a celebration when we did go to visit them. She was so excited to take stuff (gifts) out of bags, and when she pulled the little pillow out of the gift bag, this is what she did:
It was so cute! We all exclaimed, “Awwww!” and she smiled as if she knew she was saying, “Thank you, Abuela! I love it!”
It touched my heart and made it all the more worth the time put into sewing those tiny stitches and seams.
She captures my heart every time I see her.
Happy sewing & quilting!

How did I miss this post Daisy??! that is the sweetest photo of her head on the new pillow!! What a tender smile. Loe the colors together–the soft blue, pink green. Was it a set of bolts o fabric to match together so well?? The one I’m quilting has larger shares and is similar colors– with an apricot flannel on the back. Isn’t if relaxing to sit and work on it?? I have a quilt that my grandma quilted for our daughter when she was born– has little zoo animals embroidered in the squares and I’m saving it to give her with my quilt at her shower. Alway, junto see your quilt done! and the pillow– so beautiful! thanks for sending along the link!!! hugs hugs friend.
A quilt made by your Mom…wow, that will be so very special to give to your daughter with the one made by you! Love the sound of the apricot flannel…it sounds beautiful! I used a little “charm pack” which is a set of 42 coordinated 5″ squares. I order them online from Missouri Star Quilt Co on their daily deals. I can’t wait to finish this quilt and be able to give it to my granddaughter! Aren’t they such wonderful blessings?! Have fun on your vacation! Hugs
I just realized it was your grandma who made the quilt! Wow!! That’s a precious heirloom. I know your daughter & granddaughter will love it!
Oh, that’s interesting Daisy– I have a friend who order fabric on line, but I’ve never looked. I’ll have to check on the Missouri Star Quilt place!! We go to a big Romanian family’s fabric store about 30 minutes from our house– it’s enormous! but would be fun to check a place that has real coordinated quilt fabrics. — When I son got married, his wife ordered fabric with the wedding logo on it from somewhere back east and I made napkins for a breakfast that weekend. Anyway, the quilt is lovely– I know she’ll treasure it. My 9 year old grand-girl still keeps the quilt I made when the was born on her bed! it makes me happy to see it when I go to their house… OK, baking cakes for my mom’s birthday party tomorrow! Better get back to work! Hugs from here friend!
