JOY

JOY…

This is the word I’ve chosen for 2013.

I’m keeping a journal, filled with photography and writing as I find joy in each day.  I’m really looking forward to it!

As I look ahead to 2013,
Here are just a few of the many things in 2012 that brought joy to me…

Sewing and Quilting…

And I have tons of other photos I could include here,
but I’ll look forward to many, many other reasons for joy in 2013
and I’ll be posting about them.

Have a blessed Sunday!!

Then our mouth was filled with laughter
And our tongue with JOYful shouting;
Then they said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
Psalm 126:2

Interesting Abodes

As you probably know by now, my husband & I love to take drives through the country now that we live closer to it…

You probably also know that I love historic homes and even some that may not be classified as “historic” but more like broken-down, neglected, abandoned… etc…

DSC_0031

As we drive by and I try to get a good shot of the house in a moving car…
I wonder what it looked like when it was newly constructed?

Who lived here?  Where are they now?  Why has it fallen to disrepair?
Can I buy it?  What could I do to make it look nice again?
Maybe some new windows?

DSC_0003

Some of the houses don’t look so bad… some actually look like they are being lived in (by people),

I saved the best for last!
This one if by far my favorite.
But, alas, someone beat me to it… they bought this pretty house and they are working hard at bringing it back to its former glory.  I almost wish I could just walk up to them and say, “Need any help?”  But I live too far to be of much use.  I’m rooting for them, though.

They have already accomplished quite a bit and it won’t be long before this house looks amazing, like it probably looked when it was new.  Then it will be ready to welcome a new family and impress those driving by (such as myself) with its beauty!

Happy Country Driving,

The Best New Year!

Thank you so much to all of you who have left so many nice comments, emails, and notes.  My husband & I are finally feeling better from the flu!

May this new year be filled with blessings of every kind for you & your family!

Influenza A

Not long after I posted on the 24th, I began feeling sick and by Christmas Day I was feeling awful!

Things just got worse and on Thursday I actually fainted and fell and hit my head (not too bad, since I was in a sitting position).  My husband took me to the ER and thankfully everything was ok, just needed an IV to get me hydrated again.

My husband is also fighting this flu, so we’re both trying to drink lots of liquids (the only thing we can keep down) and get lots of rest.

I probably won’t be blogging for a few days.

Thanks for all the kind comments and well-wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

May you all have a wonderful, blessed New Year!!

Daisy

Happy Christmas!!

May you all have a blessed Christmas!!

“ BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD
AND SHALL BEAR A SON,
AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,”
which translated means,
“ GOD WITH US.”

Old Hymn

Old Hymn, very timely for today…

DSC_0008

Leading up to this Christmas, the words to this ancient hymn have been playing over and over in my head…

Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus

Come, Thou long expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in Thee.
Israel’s Strength and Consolation,
Hope of all the earth Thou art;
Dear Desire of every nation,
Joy of every longing heart.

Born Thy people to deliver,
Born a child and yet a King,
Born to reign in us forever,
Now Thy gracious kingdom bring.
By Thine own eternal Spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone;
By Thine all sufficient merit,
Raise us to Thy glorious throne.

Amen!

Have a blessed weekend!

Where Was God?

I have been away from the blogging world since I heard the horrific news of the tragedy in Connecticut.

Children killed.
Two words that should never be used together…

I had lots to say, and…
I initially wrote a long post about it;
but, since I don’t like long posts, and I still found myself at a loss for words…
I thought I would just share this video with you instead.

Where was God?

My prayers are with the families of the victims.

Tell your loved ones how much you love them.

Everyday.

Not long ago, as I was taking a walk on a wooded trail, I came across this “structure”…

DSC_0006

It got my attention and I wondered…

DSC_0005

Was this some sort of shed to store equipment (the trail was in a very large private park)… or was it a cabin where someone actually lived long ago.

I always wonder about the history of places (and people).

Funny, though, the dwelling wasn’t totally empty…

DSC_0004

It seems these two had taken residence!

I had to smile.

Have a terrific weekend!
